World Laughter Day is an annual event and is celebrated to raise awareness about laughter and its many health benefits.
World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May of every year . In India, the first celebration of world laughter day was done on January 10, 1998, in Mumbai. The celebration was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.

“HAPPY-DEMIC” was the first World Laughter Day gathering outside India. It took place on 9th January 2000, in Copenhagen, Denmark and more than 10,000 people gathered in the Town Hall Square . The event also found its place into the Guinness Book of World records. . During the march all chant “Ho Ho, Ha-Ha-Ha” and “very good, very good, yay!” clapping and dancing.

What is laughter yoga exercises?
Laughter yoga is a modern exercise which involves a prolonged voluntary laughter. It is believed that voluntary laughter has similar benefits ( physiological and psychological ) as natural laughter. A typical Laughter Yoga session involves warm-up clapping and chanting (“Ho, ho, ha, ha, ha”), a few deep breaths with prolonged exhalation. So it is a 15 to 20 minutes of laughter exercises with deep breathing, and then 15 to 20 minutes of laughter meditation.
