Beautiful hair is something will every one desires for. Hair is the most important part of our personality. My grand mom’s hair were so smooth, shiny and oil and dust free that I used to always wanted that kind of hair. But in today’s environment there is more work needed on the hair to keep in that way. Today I will share my experience on the best hair care tips and routine care.
With time you will see a change in hair density with increase or decrease and it depends on a lot of factors. But not many of us know the fact that hair growth has a cycle Which we call as Hair Growth Cycle as these are
- Anagen (growth phase),
- Catagen (transitional phase),
- Telogen (resting phase) and
- Exogen (shedding phase).
Where ever we go we will find some one going through the hair fall or related issues and hence friends follow this tip which I have written down based on my experience and maintain a fantastic, naturally flowing hair.

First Step in Hair Care
The first step into Hair Care is diet. IRON and PROTEIN are two most important things needed for a good hair. How do we get that ?
- Citrus Fruits (Vitamin C)
- Dry Fruits
- Green Leafy Vegetables like Spinach
- Whole Grains
- Avocado etc
A well balanced and nutritious diet goes a long way in maintaining hair health. If you do not take care of it this way then you will end up taking supplements which are neither good in long run, nor they are easy on pocket.
Another important thing which I would like to point out. Do not keep trying new product always. There are very simple tricks which you can follow with your daily routine and will work wonders. In our grand ma days , things were simple and better. Isn’t it?
How often should you wash your hair?
This is one question which is asked by many. How often should I wash my hair. No daily washing. I have friends who are in corporate job, have small hair ( I am not a fan of small hairs though) who tend to do shampoo daily. I think this is not good.
My recommendation is that if you tend to go out in field for work, two times a week and if you have a job which requires you to be indoor, once a week.
What do I do?
- To provide a nice blood circulation on the scalp a gentle oil message before hair wash is must. Coconut oil, Almond oil and Olive oil is best for this.
- Then I use a mild shampoo to wash the hair. You can also use diluted shampoo.
- Then I put conditioner on lower part of hair and wash it with cool water. I generally prefer cool water, but you can use luke warm water as well.
Deep Conditioning for Dry Hair
Deep Conditioning is very effective on dry hair. So if you have dry hair problem try this.
- Apply a good amount of conditioner to the root of your hair..
- Make sure that conditioner reaches every where.. How you do it? Use a wide tooth comb.
- Clip them together.
- Leave the conditioner on for at least 30 mins ( more if needed)
- Rinse with cool water (room temperature) and let it dry.
Above procedure will give you a smooth and silky hair.
Hair Care Tip – How should you dry your hair
One of the another important hare care tips. I had a friend of mine who used to vigorously rub her hair with towel. We all mostly towel dry our hair. But it should be a gentle dry. A water absorbing microfiber towel is best.
Hair Care Tip – How should you Brush your hair
This is another important area which should be looked into. When you have done shampooing your hair and are out, the first thing is to straighten the hair a here you need to make sure that you use a wide toothed comb. This is very important if you don’t want the hair to break. When in hurry we tend to use any brush we get our hand on to. This is not right. Keep one brush and make sure that no one else uses this brush in the family.
We ladies should have our personal hair brush.
Second tip on brush. It is clean? You will notice that with time its color changes and not because brush property is changing, it is the dirt or the wax which accumulates on it. It reduced the width or the space between the tooth of the comb and defeats the purpose. So please clean them regularly.

Also the only way you can get over this is by trimming them. Trim your broken part of hair regularly.

It is very important as I mentioned before to trouble shoot the root cause for the hair fall. Check if the issue is because of

- Is it because of too much exposure to sun

Few Home Remedies for great hair care
TV ads are full of various products related to Hair treatment. All those nice shampoo ads, conditioners, look so attractive, but remember these are TV ads and they are exaggerated and are meant to be attractive. All these companies put some much money on advertisement that they need to recover this money from somewhere and that is the cost of product and this is the reason why these product are not so easy on pocket.
Cleanliness is the key
The most important reason for hair fall is dandruff and itchy scalp. Hence, maintaining good cleanliness is very important beautiful and healthy hair.
But here are few things which you can prepare at home
Avoid hot water
You must have your mom advising that use cool water to rinse the hair and the reason for this is that hot water is very harsh on the hair. So make sure that water on room temperature. Also this problem becomes more if you have hard water in your area.
Home Made Hair Masks – Great tip
In my previous post, I have mentioned that our kitchen is a great laboratory. Our kitchen has many great items which can be converted into a nice hair mask. Check these out!
Eggs are rich in vitamin A, B12, D and E, fatty acids and protein. Their protein helps strengthen the roots, the fatty acids make it a natural hair conditioner and B12 helps add volume. Add 2 eggs and a cup of curd in a bowl. Mix them well. Add 2 table spoon of Coconut oil or Almond oil. Blend well. Apply evenly and keep it for 15 mins. Rinse with cool water.
Use HONEY for shiny hair
- Take a good amount of regular conditioner ( one which you use regularly)
- Add 3 to 4 table spoon of honey
- Apply evenly on your scalp. Use wide tooth comb and make sure that this mixture is evenly distributed.
- Leave for 30 mins
- Rinse with cool water and let it dry
- Enjoy the silky and shiny hair
Hair Serum – How to make one at home
Hair serum helps in maintaining healthy hair. They provide all the required nutrients needed for hair growth. There are many good ones available in market. I am suggesting you the one which I have used on my elder child. However it is best to make one at home.
You can take 4 table spoon of Almond Oil, Avocado Oil and add 2 to 3 drops of coconut oil. Blend it well with around 200 ml of water and add 2 to 3 drop of hair conditioner. Blend all well and put it in a pray bottle. Your home made hair serum is ready to use.
It is recommended not to use it everyday. But after wash you can put this on.

Lauki Juice (Bottle Gourd Juice)
Bottle Gourd is one the most eaten vegetable. It is very good for tummy. But Bottle Gourd Juice is very good for hair as well. Extract a cup of Bottle Gourd juice and apply it evenly on your hair. Keep it for 30 mins and rinse it with cool water. Do it for a week and notice the change!
Some tips on oiling the scalp
Oiling the scalp is very important. Why? To strengthen the hair roots we need minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids. We get this from good we eat but applying oil is more beneficial. It boosts the health of the hair.
What oil should I use?
This is a question which is important as well to answer. Coconut oils is most widely used. But I have seen that in northern part of the country other types of oil as well like mustard oil is also used. There is a tradition of oiling the scalp before washing the hair and using coconut oil or mustard oil for that matter is good.
But for regular use Coconut oil is best. It protects hair from sun and also helps control dandruff. In southern part if country I have also seen that curry leaves are boiled in coconut oil and then it is cooled, strained and applied. It acts as medicine. Keep it for an hour and then shampoo the hair. It works wonders.
Olive oil also works very good in hair fall.
Step by step process:
- Heat the oil a little bit ( Coconut or Olive oil) along with Curry Leaves or Chinese hibiscus flowers
- Apply it on your scalp
- Shampoo and apply conditioner
- Rinse and pat dry

Yoga is a science. It has immense benefits. There is a yoga asana for almost everything. In Yoga there are few asanas which can help prevent hair falls by improving overall hair health. Certain poses regulate the activity of particular glands like the thyroid gland, which is also responsible for good hair health.
Apart from other benefits, these yoga poses also help in hair health.
Hair Care Tips – In Summary
- When combing wet hair, exercise great caution. Wet hair is more prone to breaking. As I suggested before a wide tooth comb is best to use. Regular cleaning of comb is very much essential to stop wax buildup between the tooth.
- Struggling with rough and split ends? As I have suggested before, cut the rough end. Trim it once in every 3 weeks. Trim about half a centimeter.
- Don’t wash hair every day. Two times a week or once a week is also good enough
- Don’t change your shampoo frequently. Stick to one brand. Do not go for cheapest one. Stick to the once which suits you.
- Use conditioner generously and always rinse with cold water
- Always buy a shampoo that’s sulfate-free. This helps minimizing scalp irritation.
- If you have dry hair. Please void coloring and try some natural options if possible.
- It’s normal to lose 100 to 150 strands of hair a day. If you are loosing more than that then you need to worry.
In today’s fast pace life we want quick results. Market is full of products which we want to try. We get attracted towards the advertisements we see in the media and want to try out the product. We forget that we have everything in our home and if we keep some patience, we will be able to attain good results.
Coconut Oil and Milk, Mustard Oil, Neem leave juice, Aloe Vera, Honey, Oilve Oils, Egg White, Curd, Curry leaves, Lauki Juice etc.. All these are natural ingredients which can do wonders. But we do not try them.
When we see advertisement in media, we see all those long hairs and we instantly try to related it with the product. That’s not right. Look at our mothers and grand moms. They achieved much better result by these home remedies.
