Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog post 5 Best room heater in India – Top 5 Infrared Room Heaters.
India, a place of diversity. I’m not talking about the people right now but the climate.
Summers in Noth India are scorching hot. Life without an AC would definitely be tough up there.
What about the winter you may ask? well here’s the fact, the Northern part of India is pretty extreme. There, cold is extremely cold and hot is extremely hot.
Well, even now in the south, the winter is becoming a bit chilly. So, just like we need an AC in summers, we would require a room heater in the winters.
Buying a room heater isn’t an easy task. You can’t just randomly pick any and there is also little information so, I’ve compiled a list of 5 Best room heater in India you can buy to keep yourself and your family warm this winter.
These are Top 5 Infrared Room Heaters, which are one type of room heater and I will cover other types in my other blog posts.
As I have mentioned in my previous blog post, there are 3 types of Room Heaters in the market right now,
- 1) Oil Filled room heaters ( This uses Oil and convection technology)
- 2) Fan based room heaters ( using convection technology), also known as ceramic heater.
- 3) Infrared based heaters (This is using radiant technology). Also known as Halogen or Quartz based room heaters
And there are mainly two technologies being used, that is,
- 1) Convection Room Heater – A coil or a panel is used for heating. A fan/ blower is used to spread the warm air in the room.
- 2) Radiant Room Heater – Infrared radiation is used to dissipate the heat in the room. The heat directly warms people and objects in the room.
As there are 3 separate types of heaters and Which type of room heater to buy?
This is a question which depends a lot on your need ie size of room, no. of people, money you can spend, electricity consumption etc.
I will talk about Infrared based heaters first. This is one of the most economical.
Since it uses radiant technology, so takes some time in dissipating the heat. Best for small spaces.
Second is Fan based room heaters . Still in budget. Good for a bit larger spaces like bigger rooms. Uses a ceramic coil which heats up air around and then uses a fan to blow air in the room. Also heats up faster. Oil Filled room filters is probably one of the best. But they are costly as well.
They keep on dissipating the heat even after the heater is turned of. In this type of filter Oil is used as a heat reservoir. So once oil is heated up even if you switch it of, the hot oil will still keep the room warm.
As there is such a wide variety, I will divide this blog into 3 parts, giving you the best 5 heaters in each category.
Top 5 Infrared Room Heaters in India
So in our list of 5 Best room heaters in India, let’s dive into the Infrared category first
As people recognize the awesome advantages they have over convection heating systems, infrared heaters are becoming more common.
Infrared heaters emit infrared rays that heat up all the objects (including you!) in a room, unlike convection heating systems that heat the air.
Think of the heat you feel in the daylight while standing. The infrared heaters experience a similar sensation.
Using Infrared Room Heaters will reduce the heating bill by up to 50 percent, because nearly all the electricity is turned into heat.
So, here is the list of top 5 Infrared Room Heaters at the moment:
1) Orpat ORH-1410 1000 Watt Radiant Heater
This one can be preferred for all of you who are searching for an infrared heater, since it is price saving, energy saving and has a 2-year long warranty.
This small heater of 1000 Watts provides enough heat to keep a 150 sqft room warm.
The grills heat up quicker and heat up a small space in less than 15 minutes.
During spot heating, radiant or infrared heaters are excellent. They are quicker and require minimal energy because they do not require air ventilation.
Compared to convection heaters, it’s still a lot cheaper.
It is made of reflectors and nickel-chrome mesh grills plated with nickel and chromium, which heats up very easily and becomes super hot.
It may therefore be unsafe for children or livestock. Nevertheless, it provides the very necessary overheat security. That means, if it gets too hot by any chance, it will turn itself off.
There are many pros but the major cons are:
1) No variable thermostat setting
2) The grill can get really hot and hurt you by accident
This product is priced at Rs 850 at amazon.in, the link to which is given
2) Bajaj Minor 1000 Watts Radiant Room Heater (Steel)
The infrared heat radiating plates are made of nickel and chromium that are corrosion-resistant. They pass instant heat and heat up a small-sized room in less than 15 minutes.
It still has overheat protection and protection from thermal cutting. In terms of aesthetics, the style is superior. The legs that are tilted make it very durable.
In a higher position, you can position it away from the kid’s grasp. It is very compact and lightweight. But when it gets very humid, you have to be quite patient.
There are no regulators for thermostats, but all infrared heaters conserve more energy than convection / fan heaters.
You have to be extra careful for safety whether you have kids or pets in the home. They could get hurt pretty badly if touched by bare hands.
The pros and cons are similar to the Orpat but it’s a tad bit more expensive at Rs. 900 at amazon.in, link to which is as below.
3) Singer Quartz Heat Glow Plus 800-Watt Room Heater
It’s an infrared heater of 800 Watts, suitable for a small area of between 100 and 110 Sq Ft.

Providing immediate heat in cold weather, thus. It contains two thermostat settings, 400 Watts for lower cold temperatures and 800 for colder temperatures, unlike the Bajaj and Orpat infrared room heaters.
You therefore have the possibility of changing the temperature of the heater as well as the ability to reduce the energy bills.
It is a room heater that is free-standing. Additionally, it has added a tip-over safety switch to minimise the chances of tip-over and triggering an accident. If it drop, it is supposed to cut the power link. The thermal cut off switch is also there.
The style and the white outer case look attractive. It has a handle for hassle-free motion as well. You can rest without any disturbing noise, as it does not have a fan.
The only con is that the warranty doesn’t cover the quartz tube. So if something goes wrong with the tubes, you might have to get it fixed from somewhere else.

While it is inexpensive, it has safety features such as a tip-over safety switch, which is available to cut the power link to protect against injuries in case the system tips over.
It also has protection from overheating. So, the system is designed to power itself off if it ever reaches the safety limit.
The cons are probably the materials used to make this heater and the desing looks a bit filmsy.
